When Lisa and Steve Padron began eyeing retirement, they knew exactly where they wanted to settle—Vero Beach. And why not? With its natural charm, and beautiful beaches and waterways, Vero Beach is the perfect coastal community to call home. LifeStyle Homes was lucky enough to be chosen to build the Padron’s retirement residence and get to know this lovely couple in the process.

Read on about their new home building experience.

LSH: Congrats on your new home! Please tell a little bit about yourself.
LP: Steve retired in May of 2017 after a career in Data Center Management for investment firms.  I am a self-employed Project Manager currently on hiatus while we settle in to our new home! We love to travel, cook, explore new places on Steve’s Harley, and attend NASCAR races. I enjoy playing tennis whenever I can.

LSH: Are you originally from the Vero Beach area? If not, what drew you here?
LP: Steve is originally from Cuba but has spent most of his life in New Jersey.  I was born and raised in New York. Why Vero? Over the years, we found ourselves either meeting up with friends here or driving through and always said it was a beautiful place.

LSH: Why does the LifeStyle Monterey work for your family? What’s your favorite aspect of this plan?
LP: The Monterey is perfect for us because it has a split floorplan along with expansive common areas.  My mother resides with us, so with some modifications to the floor plan, Mom has her own “suite” on one side of the house. Everyone has their own space, including space for guests. The open floorplan allowed us to build our dream kitchen—our most favorite aspect of the plan.

LSH: What are you most looking forward to about living in your new home?
LP: Indoor/outdoor living, enjoying the outdoor space and pool, and of course, cooking in our new kitchen.

LSH: What was your experience like building with LifeStyle?
LP: Our experience with LifeStyle was extremely pleasant and stress-free. Everyone at LifeStyle was professional, knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and courteous. Mark, our superintendent, was very accommodating and responsive. We are very pleased with the excellent workmanship of our LifeStyle home. You have built us a beautiful residence!

LSH: Any advice for home buyers starting the new-home construction process?
LP: Do your research, know what you want (or at least have some idea of what you want), and be flexible. If an HOA is involved in the home building process, be prepared for possible delays stemming from HOA rules and regulations. Budget additional dollars for changes you may want to make during construction and afterwards.
