Our Humanitarian Endeavors
Education Renovation
Reflecting our founders’ lifelong devotion to teaching, we maintain ongoing support programs for public schools in our area. Education Renovation recognizes Brevard County teachers with rewards for outstanding service to their students and the community. It also helps with renovation efforts of local schools in need of a hand-up. In 2013, LifeStyle Homes volunteered to complete much-needed renovations to University Park Magnet School’s front office. The Melbourne school’s reception and administrative area was in dire need of improvements when LifeStyle stepped in to help.
In September 2016, the LifeStyle team relaunched its signature ‘Education Renovation’ program, offering assistance to nominated teachers in Brevard and Indian River counties. LifeStyle announces and rewards a winning teacher each month with needing funding, tools, or supplies to improve their classrooms.
LifeStyle Homes is a proud donator to Promise of Brevard. This amazing organization supports our community’s special-needs residents by providing safe, affordable housing and a fulfilling lifestyle full of freedom and life-enrichment opportunities.
Promise of Brevard, along with the City of West Melbourne, developed Space Coast Field of Dreams, an all-accessible sports complex for children and adults of all abilities. In February 2018, LifeStyle Homes was proud to contribute to this awesome project, donating money to fund the organization’s basketball court.
In July 2017, LifeStyle Homes completed the first cottage in Nana’s House gated community in West Melbourne. The cottage is one of eight that will house Brevard’s needy, abused, abandoned, and neglected children.
Using our knowledge, skills, and resources to build a home and safe haven for venerable children in Brevard was humbling. And to get to do it alongside our industry peers in a far-reaching community volunteer effort is just awesome. We thank Nana’s House for the opportunity to play a role in this true community treasure.
We’re home builders, after all, so isn’t it natural for us to get involved in this wonderful program that provides quality housing and encourages home ownership? LifeStyle Homes has been dedicated to Habitat for Humanity for numerous years, having sponsored and built its first Habitat home in 2005. Habitat for Humanity of Brevard County (HFHBC) is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
While we’re happy to provide organizational and financial support to this wonderful organization, what we like best of all is getting out in the field to actually help build a Habitat home for a deserving family. Nothing beats watching the new homeowners walking through their own home for the very first time.
Adopt-A-Family
We at LifeStyle Homes are committed to spreading cheer during the holidays. Each year, local families that are struggling due to unforeseen circumstances are selected to be recipients of LifeStyle’s Adopt-A-Family offerings, which include a holiday meal, decorations, and gifts from the family’s own wish list. In 2013, we teamed up with the Cancer Care Centers Foundation (CCCF) to help a local breast cancer patient’s family. Through generous donations made be LifeStyle team members and our contractors, we raised over $3,000, which not only allowed us to purchase all the items on this family’s Christmas “wish lists,” but also cover the family’s living expenses for a month.
Candlelighters of Brevard, Inc. is a wonderful organization dedicated to offering support and financial assistance to children with cancer and their families. We are proud to support this great program through sponsorships.
While we take great pleasure in supporting our community, being asked to support our customers in their own humanitarian endeavors is something that gives us great pride.
Kristen Malfara, a LifeStyle homeowner, happens to be the founder of The M.O.R.G.A.N. Project – an organization that offers safe, therapeutic play, as well as creative and fun quality-of-life activities for children with special needs. Kristen approached LifeStyle to help build an “outdoor sensorium” at Morgan’s Place – a virtual multi-sensory playground for disabled kids. The LifeStyle team pooled our resources and man-power to help build various sensory stations for this project, as well as a safe gazebo that will protect these kids from the elements.
Because of our commitment to clean energy and sustainable building practices, in 2013, LifeStyle Homes was honored at Keep Brevard Beautiful’s “River Fest 2013: Keep Brevard Green” first-annual sustainability awards ceremony. LifeStyle was once again honored by Keep Brevard Beautiful 2015. We are proud to have been selected as the builder-developer most supportive of local environmental responsibility. We also sponsor the Brevard Parks & Recreation EcoLiving Jubilee and Recycle Brevard Festival, as well as the Florida Solar Energy Center’s EnergyWhiz festival.
Random Acts
Every now and then, an opportunity comes our way to do something special that really needs doing. One of these opportunities occurred in 2008 when a local firefighter whose own home had burned down during the tragic Palm Bay wild fires approached us to build a replacement home for his family. We decided it would be appropriate for us to build that home without profit and to ask some of our trusted trade partners to chip in also. We at LifeStyle are proud to have helped this local hero who lost his home while he was on duty saving the homes and lives of his neighbors.
