The LifeStyle team is proud to sponsor the Space Coast Basket Brigade, which is celebrating its 10th year providing Thanksgiving Day meals to those less fortunate.
The Space Coast Basket Brigade’s team of volunteers is coming together the Sunday before Thanksgiving, November 24th, at Satellite High School to put together baskets of food for Thanksgiving dinners. The organization’s goal last year was 2,000 baskets, but the Brigade had enough food donations to create 4,783 baskets of food. This year the goal is 2,500 baskets, and based on last year’s response, donations may exceed 5,000 baskets.
LifeStyle Homes is accepting donations of food items at our main office/design center located at 3453 W. New Haven Avenue, West Melbourne. Requested items include turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, corn, green beans, yams, cranberry sauce, rolls, pumpkin pie, and marshmallows. Any extra food will be donated to the Sharing Center, the Melbourne Food Pantry, and/or Nana’s House. In addition, if you wish to make a monetary donation, the Space Coast Basket Brigade will do the shopping for you – $5 buys a pumpkin pie, $10 buys a turkey, and $45 feeds an entire family a Thanksgiving meal.
Monetary donations may be made online here or at LifeStyle Homes until the Friday before the event (November 22).
And, if you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly volunteer project, we encourage everyone to come out to Satellite High School on Sunday, November 24th from 10 am to 3 pm to help package and deliver baskets. It is a great opportunity to show your kids or grand kids how fortunate they are and teach them the compassion to help others. The leaders of the Space Coast Basket Brigade have turned this event into something spectacular and fun for the family with coloring stations, face painting, bounce houses, and other fun activities for the kids.
